WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
To undertake any diving activities you will need to provide us with your current certification card and (if possible) your log book.
If you are not a certified diver all we need is you with your swim suit! Because you will leave Seastar with a diving certification..
AM I FIT TO DIVE?
If you have a pre-existing medical condition, you will need to obtain a letter from your doctor advising that you are able to dive with this condition. You can find the medical statement you need on the bottom right of this page. If unsure, ask us.
I'M REALLY TALL/SHORT/THIN/WIDE.
WILL YOU HAVE A WETSUIT TO FIT ME?
We have a large selection of wetsuits in all shapes and sizes, however we can't guarantee to be able to fit everyone. (This is the part where we make the speech about all men and women not being created equal!) If you're in any doubt, contact us to ensure we have a suit to fit you.
I HAVE A DISABILITY - WOULD I BE ABLE TO LEARN HOW TO DIVE?
We've taught lots of people to dive, we can usually adapt a course and the skills required to any impairment. The water is a very forgiving environment, and as long as you can float, we should be able to get you diving. Contact us about any queries you may have.
I'D LIKE MY KIDS TO LEARN HOW TO DIVE - IS THIS POSSIBLE?
PADI has a special programmes for children. From 8 years Bubblemaker, from 10 years Junior Open Water Diver. They can also carry on with PADI's continuing education programme. (Parents.. get out your wallets!!)
WHAT IF I GET SICK ?
Medical facilities from local doctors and dentists, to emergency clinics and hospitals are all available in Aqaba. Haya Hospital, located 1/2 a kilometre from the hotel, has an on-site 6 man recompression chamber, manned 24 hours. Our safe diving practices means you should not have to make use of it! We do however, strongly recommend all divers carry insurance. If you do not have insurance, contact DAN Insurance.
CAN I USE MY OWN DIVE KIT?
You are welcome to bring your own dive kit or part of - we can complete the set. A locked cage is available for equipment storage at the center. The Dive kit is transported to and from the trailer by center staff before and after each dive trip. You are responsible for the rinsing of your own kit and any kit supplied by Seastar.
WHAT DOES NO FLY TIME MEAN?
Because of the residual nitrogen left in your body after diving, you must leave a period of no less than 24 hours between completing your last dive and flying. For the same reason, you must leave a period of no less than 12 hours (more is better) between your last dive and driving to areas more elevated than Aqaba, such as Wadi Rum, Petra and Amman.
WHAT'S THE WATER TEMPERATURE AND VISIBILITY LIKE?
Here's the good news: Diving in Aqaba is all year round. The water temperatures range from 25/26 degrees in the middle of summer (July, August) to a mild 20 degrees in the peak of winter (January, February). Because it's so protected, the sea is usually very calm and visibility excellent, up to 35 metres.
