SHOROUK WRECK DIVE ‏‏

Site Name: Al Shorouk

Distance from Club: 3.4km

Depth Range 38m - 64m

Type: Wreck

Level :
Recreational dive-Deep Diver Specialty (Max 40m)
Technical Dive -Decompression Procedures (or equivalent) and above

Notes:

FOR TECHNICAL DIVERS - Either use air as bottom gas and set maximum dive depth at 45m (Decompression Procedures qualified) or 55m (Extended Range qualified) or ideally, an 18/25 trimix for a maximum depth of 57m (Trimix qualified or higher). I would recommend setting a bottom time of 25 minutes and decompression mixes of EANx 40% and 80% (or single EANX 50% for decompression Procedures qualified divers).

Rohan conducts at least one dive on this wreck during all Extended Range and Trimix technical diving courses.

Wreck scuttled on the 18th June, 2008 by Aqaba Marine Park for diving
Lies on her Starboard side just off from the Eel Canyon dive site
Mooring buoy is attached to the shallowest part at 38m on her bow
Commence the dive by descending down the mooring line and the wreck appears underneath. Leave the line and head around the topside of the wreck.
Start the dive by going around her topdeck along the vehicle deck and up to the bridge area
The vehicle deck is open and makes a great swim though
At this point, you can swim under the wreck between the two reefs (Trimix divers only due to depth)
The bridge area and engine room is then nice to look in and penetration is possible for those certified TDI Advanced Wreck Divers or equivalent
Then start to turn and swim around her hull
Then return to the bow ready to commence you ascent and decompression phase at the end of your bottom time up the mooring line returning to the boat
